Try not to mount your vertical at, or just above, ground level! I really like the performance of these antennas as well as there durability, that's why I had to go for a second one! More to follow when I get the ali plate. From the picture raised radials look quite easy. Then I connected all 4 radials and adjusted the vertical radiator to finalize it. Please do not overtighten antenna grub screws or apply any glue. But you don't get to mix the concepts. I have run one with 20 roof mounted tune radials with good luck when I still lived in the city.. Had signal ingress trouble on 75m lsb and 40m am.
Thanks in part to the hex beam and amp I have currently logged 65 QSOs in about 3. Work in progress, but I will get a good portable station soon. It is difficult sometimes to bond metal roof pieces to get that, and you have to do it with wire, typically 32 or so, 32 or so feet long, if you can manage that.
